CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:
Class 1 – Be a Jitterbug - Rhythms
Being called a “jitterbug” is one of the greatest compliments a Swing dancer can ever receive. For the first hour, we will explore what it means to be a Jitterbug and how to use rhythms to break outside the pattern.

Class 2 – Lead & Follow Technique
We’ll spend this class discussing and practicing the “natural laws” of lead and follow; techniques that are universal to all Swing dances, including the 5 Rules of Following. Please note, I treat leading and following as jobs not genders, so feel free to explore new and unfamiliar techniques.

Class 3 –Technical Jitterbuggery – Putting it Together
The only thing better than being a jitterbug, is being a jitterbug that can lead and follow. This final class will synthesize the first two classes, providing a framework for you to continue to grow beyond this class.

And now, let's introduce you to our instructor!

NICK PETERSON has been dancing since last century, when a girl he asked out on a date, invited him to a Swing dance and then stood him up. He has been teaching since May 2000, including a 8 semesters as part-time faculty at UNLV. In 2006, Nick and his partner won the Jitterbug contest at the National Jitterbug Championships. Besides teaching, Nick enjoys researching the origin of the Jitterbug, talking in the third person, and living in the past!

*Note: Dance workshops are concentrated classroom settings and tend to be intense in nature. Come prepared to learn a ton, work hard, and have a blast. Your dancing will improve by leaps and bounds! Bring water, comfortable clothes, and decent dance shoes. It is recommended that you bring a notepad/pencil for taking notes, and/or a video camera to keep a record of what you learn in each class.
